Solway Border & Eden LEADER

Leader 2014-2020 Programme

The LEADER approach uses local knowledge to promote integrated 'bottom-up', community led delivery of Rural Development Programme funding. Its aim is to support farming, forestry, rural communities and enterprises to grow and strengthen, encouraging innovation and co-operation in order to tackle local development objectives.

The Solway, Border & Eden Local Action Group (LAG) has produced its 2014-2020 Local Development Strategy. This sets out the economic needs and aspirations for the rural areas of the LAG area and was agreed through extensive consultation with local businesses, rural networks, voluntary and community groups and public bodies. It also outlines proposals for spending a £2.261 million allocation of Rural Development Programme funds using the LEADER approach.
